It must be fun
We made this commitment to each other when we hatched Bard for three reasons: birthing a brand gives you license to play by your own rules; it is too easy in our global state of permacrisis to feel that fun is an irresponsible frivolity; and finally – craft suffers from a rather earnest reputation, which is no fun at all. Fun and rigour are not mutually exclusive. Fun is powerful, not childish. It is liberating, creative, contagious, uplifting, healthy, beautiful, expansive and often free. Do we have to be serious to be taken seriously? “I wish I’d had less fun,” said nobody on their deathbed (we hope…).
