The Grit and The Glamour
(Newsletter: 12th November 2023)
As we cut the cake of our first birthday celebrations at Bard, we are also cutting the ribbon of our first exhibition: The Grit and The Glamour. We have transformed our home at Bard in Leith to become the customs depot. Bard is based in Scotland’s oldest customs buildings (built in 1811). It feels fitting to be showing and selling some of the finest and most intriguing objects made in Scotland in a building that historically exported Scottish goods to the world. As of today, Bard is filled with vintage tea crates, wooden pallets and packing tape and, amongst these, we are displaying new work by 21 makers, artists and designers working in Scotland.
