Mycelium Candelabra

Manifesto

£1,200.00

Description

Inspired by the complex system of roots that connect fungi together deep underground, the Mycelium Candelabra suspends three taper candles within a protective nest of ceramic coils that twist and connect together to form an elaborate structure.

In Katie’s words: “The process is intuitive: slowly building the form in the moment over several days of making. With each day that passes, the structure grows in complexity, with coils of rich, terracotta clay being carefully joined. It is peaceful work, waiting with patience every hour to allow the growing form to rest before continuing on. After bisque firing, the Mycelium Candelabra is subsequently painted with a loose coating of white slip. When fired, the surface textures and iron content within the clay peek through the white slip, giving a toasted, rustic depth to the finished piece.”

Height 29cm, width 29cm, depth 24cm.
