Forged and handmade by Jake Clelland of Skye Knives in his workshop in Orbost on the Isle of Skye, this Kwaiken has a 4-inch single-edged blade of 1075 high carbon steel in shobu-sukuri style, clay-hardened and polished to show the gunome hamon. The blade is housed in a minimalist aikuchi-style mount, consisting of a faceted tsuka and saya cut from a single piece of wenge hardwood, separated by an oil blued mild steel tsuba and brass seppas. The blade is fitted with a brazed copper habaki, and secured in the tsuka with a buffalo horn mekugi peg.
