Description

“These are a family of vessels made from salvaged scientific glass, which I have embellished using small cuts into the material’s surface. The marks represent a new life for objects that have been discarded. The process of reclamation is an important aspect in my practice. I seek ways to bring value back into objects and materials. It’s a simple but important gesture in our throwaway culture. I like that these vessels have been used in a serious scientific environment, and now they have a more glamorous role in a different context. They could be for table water, vases or water jugs for whisky. The principle is that they are used, and that through tactile and visual character, they elevate a small moment to be something lighter.” Juli Bolaños-Durman
