Jeni Allison's work bridges the gap between the ancient art of fireside knitting and the latest developments in computer aided manufacture. Her Blue Digital Drape blankets were designed using a digital model of hanging fabric, transposed into a 2D design and jacquard knitted into physical, lambswool blankets.
The result has a fascinating character, subtly playing with our optical and tactile perceptions and expectations. The genius of mind, hand and machine working together to comfort, provoke and delight in equal measure.
