Our range of knives are forged and handmade by Jake Clelland of Skye Knives in his workshop in Orbost on the Isle of Skye. The Gotland knife has a 4 ¾-inch single-edge blade of hardened 1095 high carbon steel, polished and etched to show the hardening lines and honed to a fine edge. The blade is fitted with a sycamore handle, carved with Mammen beasts. The handle has an inlet crenelated copper ferrule, patterned after finds from Gotland, and a copper butt plate secured with copper pins. The blade is sheathed in a hand-stitched and tooled scabbard of light cowhide, reinforced with hammered copper placquets and copper suspension rings.
